School “Umberto I”-Lanciano


The School “Umberto I” is composed by two children schools, two primary schools and a low secondary school, with about 1300 students between 3 and 14 years; there are 130 teachers, 15 school staff, 6 administrative assistants, 1 Administration Manager and 1 Head Teacher. All our schools are located in the city center of Lanciano, a 40,000 inhabitants town on the hills between the Adriatic coast and the Majella mountain with a good socio-cultural cohesion and a local economy based on trade and craft industry. We have 8% of foreign students and high vocation for innovation and cultural exchange.

• to raise levels of education and skills of female students and students, respecting the learning paths;
• counter the socio-cultural and territorial inequalities;
• prevent and recover the abandonment and early school leaving;
• ensuring the right to education, equal opportunities for educational success and lifelong learning;
• promote all knowledge to mature skills for living and living together as citizens of today and tomorrow;
• educating students’ critical thinking, through the acquisition of a working and research method;
• raise students’ interest in local and national traditions as a starting point for planning the future;
• ensure educational courses based on active methodologies, workshops and research / action;
• reinforce the idea of being citizens of Europe and the world through the knowledge of other cultures;
• treating the building of stable and significant learning;
• promote the continuous training of personnel;
• promote a systematic interaction with the families and the territory;
• improve service quality in accordance with the principles of efficiency and effectiveness.
